Art of Cooperation – Create, Explore and Discover

October’s Luncheon speaker is Laura E. Smith, Director of Education/Museum Academy at the Huntsville Museum of Art (www.hsvmuseum.org). The Museum seeks to foster understanding of the visual arts and appreciation of artistic achievement. The mission of the Museum is to bring people and art together through acquiring, preserving, exhibiting and interpreting the highest quality works of art. Ms. Smith will present how to encourage life-long learning and interest in the visual arts in the community. There will be an emphasis on exhibition and educational programs. This will also include an interactive component to inspire creativity and expression for an artful event.

Volunteer Spotlight

RSA CWC August Volunteer of the Month

Our RSA CWC August Volunteer of the Month (VOM) is Kathlene “Kat” Eady. Kat is attending night school as a full time student studying business. She is a “navy brat” and moved here with her husband Donald from the NES Lemore Navy Base in California. She and Donald have been married 6 years and currently have a dog and a cat but no children. Donald is currently deployed in the Middle East with the navy. Kat enjoys volunteering, the intranet, meeting people and being active in the community.

Kat has jumped right in to volunteer with the RSA CWC. She eagerly worked with the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) Golf Tournament in August, joined the January Fundraising Event Committee, and served food for the Redstone Arsenal Oktoberfest in September. Thank you to Kat Eady for her volunteer spirit and the support she has already given to the Community Women’s Club this year!

RSA CWC has gotten off to a busy start this year with volunteers. This summer was spent planning for the year and many members volunteered for the August Super Sign Up to make it a success. Also in August, volunteers assisted the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) with their annual golf tournament. The proceeds of the tournament fund a scholarship for our Merit Awards program in May. We appreciate MOAA!
September brought the Redstone Arsenal Oktoberfest where the CWC provided 36 volunteers to serve German food. This volunteer event helps us raise funds through FMWR to assist with our Merit Awards and Community Assistance Salute Grants. We thank FMWR for the opportunity to participate in this fun community event! Mrs. Via hosted our New Member Welcome Tea in her home and the board members assisted. It was a lovely day to meet many of the ladies who are new members to the RSA CWC. Thank you to the many CWC members, spouses, and family members who have already volunteered over 315 hours this club year!
